Lit: 5 fables

We had to read 5 fables for our literature blog assignment. Then we had to write what we think the moral of each fable is. For the fable The fox and the goat, I think the moral, or maxim, is that don’t follow someone you know that cant be trusted because it may end up being a trap, and you might be the one who gets in trouble. In the fable, if the goat didn’t take the fox’s advice, and didn’t jump in the well, then he wouldn’t be trapped inside the well. For the moral of The crow and the Pitcher is that no task is impossible to do, and that if you try to get what you want, you can get it by a little patience, because the crow was really thirsty, and when it saw that the water wasn’t from its reach, the crow kept throwing pebbles into it so the water would rise. the maxim for, The fisher and the little fish is that even the littlest thing can fill your needs, and even a little is better then nothing at all, because the fisher didn’t let the little fish go, even though it was a little fish. For the next fable, The four Oxen and the Lion, the moral is that when you are together you are safer then being alone, because when the four oxen’s were together, they could defend themselves, but when they were quarrelling they got attacked by the lion. For the last fable, The Wolf in Sheep's clothing, the moral is that looks can be deceiving, because the lamb thought the wolf in the sheep’s clothing, was his mother, so he fallowed the wolf and got tricked and eaten by the wolf. These are the 5 fables and there morals or maxims!

Science: Ask a geneticist

When I read the websites that were given, I learned many different facts about genetics and genes. In one of the articles, they talked about humans and chimps. What I learned was that, even though chimps and humans have a different number of chromosomes, we might have close amounts of genes. Geneticists think that the difference between the two, (humans and chimps) is that the genome don't code for genes. Also, even though goldfishes are simpler then humans, they have 96 chromosomes, which amazes me. What I also learned is that a chromosome is a package containing a chunk of genomes. Like some of the simplest forms of life, like bacteria, can keep all their DNA in a single chromosome, unlike more complex organisms, like humans, that divide their DNA's into chromosomes, which I thought was pretty amazing.

Lit: The Wooden Bowls

In this story, it teaches you how to enjoy life with your family members. This means a lot to me because, it tells me that spending time with your family is the most important memory you will have, and if you separate yourself form them, you will never be able to have the memories to remind you of the good times, especially if they are those of old age. I can connect to this because I have my grandparents living here today. Even though they live far away from my family, and only come to visit almost every year, I try to spend the most possible amount of time I can with them, because I know that spending time with them will give me the memories I would love to cherish forever. This story can connect to C.A.R.E.S by empathy, because the little boy felt bad for his grandfather, and put himself in the shoes of his grandfather, by making wooden bowls for his parents for when he grow up, and they are in their old age. this also shows responsibility because the little boy made his parents make them think that they were wrong and he took the responsibility to bring him back. All in all, this short story tells you a lot about how spending time with your family is important to you. Giving all the care to your family members, mostly elders, shows you have great respect and you care for their well being.
