Science: Ask a geneticist

When I read the websites that were given, I learned many different facts about genetics and genes. In one of the articles, they talked about humans and chimps. What I learned was that, even though chimps and humans have a different number of chromosomes, we might have close amounts of genes. Geneticists think that the difference between the two, (humans and chimps) is that the genome don't code for genes. Also, even though goldfishes are simpler then humans, they have 96 chromosomes, which amazes me. What I also learned is that a chromosome is a package containing a chunk of genomes. Like some of the simplest forms of life, like bacteria, can keep all their DNA in a single chromosome, unlike more complex organisms, like humans, that divide their DNA's into chromosomes, which I thought was pretty amazing.

Lit: The Wooden Bowls

In this story, it teaches you how to enjoy life with your family members. This means a lot to me because, it tells me that spending time with your family is the most important memory you will have, and if you separate yourself form them, you will never be able to have the memories to remind you of the good times, especially if they are those of old age. I can connect to this because I have my grandparents living here today. Even though they live far away from my family, and only come to visit almost every year, I try to spend the most possible amount of time I can with them, because I know that spending time with them will give me the memories I would love to cherish forever. This story can connect to C.A.R.E.S by empathy, because the little boy felt bad for his grandfather, and put himself in the shoes of his grandfather, by making wooden bowls for his parents for when he grow up, and they are in their old age. this also shows responsibility because the little boy made his parents make them think that they were wrong and he took the responsibility to bring him back. All in all, this short story tells you a lot about how spending time with your family is important to you. Giving all the care to your family members, mostly elders, shows you have great respect and you care for their well being.
